Morning Worship

  • TIME: Every Sunday 11am
  • WHAT HAPPENS IN MORNING WORSHIP?The morning service is family orientated. There are Crèche facilities as well as two Sunday School classes and a Bible Class for teenagers during the service. The sermon is geared more towards enquirers and younger Christians rather than established Christians, although obviously everyone is welcomed and encouraged to join us and will gain benefit from the service as we worship God together and learn from Him together.
  • The church is fitted with a loop systemNOTES: The service is generally an hour long with the emphasis being to hear what God says in the Bible, realising why we need to take notice of what it says every day of our lives, and to declare the praises of God in song and prayer. The service is open to anyone and everyone is welcome to join us. For those who are hard of hearing the church is fitted with a loop system, whilst for anyone with young children crèche facilities are available. Tea and coffee are served afterwards when there is an opportunity to ask questions, chat, and get to know each other.

Evening Worship

For anyone who would like to come.
  • VENUE: DRBC - Main Church Building
  • TIME: Every Sunday 6:30pm
  • WHAT HAPPENS IN EVENING WORSHIP? Evening worship is more for established Christians than Morning Worship. We meet together as a church to worship God in song, prayer, and learning from His word via the sermon. There is always opportunity to chat, ask questions, etc. after the service.
  • NOTES: The service is about an hour long and the emphasis of the sermon is on providing a place for more established Christians to learn and grow through accurate exposition and application of God's word, the Bible. Our aim is that we may better understand who God is and be better equipped to serve him in the world around us. Along with the sermon we aim to give God glory and honour through song and prayer. The service is open to any who would like to come.

Communion Service

For all baptised believers.
  • VENUE: DRBC - Main Church Building
  • TIME: First Sunday in the month after the evening service / third Sunday in the month 9:45am before the morning service
  • WHAT HAPPENS IN THE COMMUNION SERVICE? In the communion service we spend a short time listening to God's word and singing of Him and to Him, to bring us in to the right attitude to take bread and wine. The focus of the service is the communion itself. We follow Jesus command to remember his sacrifice by eating bread, symbolising his body which was broken for us on the cross, and drinking wine, symbolising his blood which was shed to cover over our sins before God. By God's grace and our faith we take part in his death and so are included in his resurrection and eternal life.
  • NOTES: Because of the nature and purpose of communion we ask that only baptised believers take communion with us. Others are more than welcome to stay and see what goes on. Visitors are asked to see a duty deacon to indicate their wish take communion.

Sunday School

For 4-6 Year olds (Primary group) and 7-11 year olds (Main group)
  • VENUE: DRBC - Church Hall and Primary Room
  • TIME: During the morning service. 11am.
  • WHAT HAPPENS IN THE SUNDAY SCHOOL? The Sunday School starts with everyone sat together for a quiz or similar to go over the things done the week before. We sing a song or two as well and then split into groups by age, each group going to a different table to do the lesson for the week. The work done at the tables involves a Bible story and craft activities around that story. The aim is to teach the children about what God says he is like, and what he has accomplished through his son Jesus Christ. The primary Sunday School does similar things with the younger children in the primary room

Christianity Explained

For anyone but especially enquirers and new Christians
  • VENUE: DRBC - Church Hall
  • TIME: During the morning service or on a midweek evening. See notes below for details of the current/next course.
  • WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CHRISTIANITY EXPLAINED COURSE? Christianity Explained is a six session Bible study in Mark's gospel for people who are unfamiliar with the Bible and want to find out more about what it says and find out more about Jesus of Nazareth. Each session consists of a 20 minute presentation followed by an opportunity to ask questions which may arise from it. Bibles will be available for people to check out what has, and is being, said. No one is expected to answer questions from the Bible passages looked at, or read anything out from the Bible. It is hoped it will be a fairly informal atmosphere where people can ask the questions they have always wanted to, or that come up during discussion. This course provides a very good introduction to who Jesus is and what it means to be one of his followers. It is hoped that church members will feel able to take interested friends and relatives through the course as well as there being centrally run courses.
  • NOTES: There is not a Christianity Explained course running at the moment, but if you are interested in attending this course or would simply like some more information about what is involved, please do e-mail us (or, if you prefer, you could come to one of our Sunday Services and ask for more information then).
