WHAT HAPPENS AT THE PARENTS AND TODDLERS GROUP? The Parents and Toddlers Group
aims to provide a warm and safe area for children to play happily and learn
to integrate with others AND provide a comfortable place for parents to
relax, socialise, make new friends and share joys and problems. Lots of
toys and activities are available for the children (sorry parents only
cups of tea/coffee for you!) including a baby area with toys, colouring and painting, sticking and playdough, sand and water play, a bouncy castle and ball pool and climbing frames. Towards the end of each session we have a time of playing with balls and bean bags followed by singing and a story.
NOTES: There is a charge of £1 per family for every morning attended,
to cover costs and refreshments (drinks, breadsticks and fruit). Parents are expected to keep an eye on their children, keep
doors closed, keep hot drinks away from children, help with activities
when possible.
WHAT HAPPENS AT FRIDAY CLUB? At the beginning of the club we get together and sing about the Lord Jesus Christ. We then have a story from the Bible where we learn about who God is and what that means for us today. The final part of the evening is taken up with either games (which are generally, but not always, energetic!) or arts and crafts. The children can choose which they want to do each week. We finish promptly at 7:00pm ready for the children to be picked up.
TIME: Three mornings in the Easter holidays each year - in 2009, Holiday Club was held from Wednesday 15th - Friday 17th April, from 9.00a.m. to 12.30p.m. each day.
WHAT HAPPENS AT HOLIDAY BIBLE CLUB? Starting and ending each day together, children are then split up into three groups by age: 5-7 year olds; 8-9 year olds, and; 10-11 year olds. Each day there are a variety of activities suitable for children of differing ages including: learning from the Bible, crafts and games. Refreshments are also provided half-way through each day's activities.
WHAT HAPPENS AT PIONEER CAMP? Pioneer Camp provides a
time for a good holiday, and a great opportunity to make new friends and
to learn more about the Christian faith. Campers participate in various
activities during the day, including field games, wide games, team games,
camp fire and competitions. Outings are made to local resorts. There is
often an opportunity for swimming (only under supervision) and exploring
the area. All the camp staff are Christians and they include a medical
officer, a camp cook, and staff with many years experience. All meals are
served in a large marquee. Campers are divided into tents, approximately
6 to a tent, and are provided with groundsheets and sleeping mats, but
not blankets. We suggest that campers bring a sleeping bag, a blanket and
a pillow. Camp beds are not advisable due to lack of space. One or two
members of staff are appointed as leaders to each tent. Pocket money is
deposited in the camp bank and withdrawn each day as required. A camp shop
sells tuck, postcards, books and souvenirs. Campers help in the work of
the camp on a rota basis - for example, preparing vegetables, serving meals
and cleaning up after meals. The combination of camping, sporting activities,
meeting other young people and learning of the Lord Jesus Christ has attracted
many to camp over the years, so book early to avoid disappointment.
NOTES: There are two camps. One for 11-17 year olds and one for
9-14 year olds both held around the beginning of August each year. The
camps tend to be held at different venues each year and cost around £100
per child, which the church may be able to help with.
